    Discover the wonders of coastal Alabama during Discovery Day Saturday, April 7 at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab with 92Zew. It’s a day of hands-on learning for all ages. Get up close to fish, sharks, and rays. Learn more about your coastal environment. Meet our researchers and learn about their work. Take a tour of laboratories and step aboard the Research Vessel Alabama Discovery.  Don’t forget Boardwalk Talks on the first and third Wednesday of each month presented by DISL researchers and students at the Estuarium. Summer excursion dates are on the calendar for the upcoming summer. The first excursion along the beach, through the dunes, and into the maritime forest will be Thursday, May 31. Excursions are a great for all ages. Check the calendar on disl.org for a listing of events.

    The Town, Chamber of Commerce and Dauphin Island Foundation have teamed up again this year to sponsor a Mobile Pops Concert on Saturday, April 7 at 6pm at Water Tower Plaza. Admission is FREE and the concert will feature many of your Disney favorites including tunes from Pirate’s of the Carribean, Lion King, The Little Mermaid and more! Bring lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray (just in case) thanks to DI Water & Sewer for providing use of the site. Join us for this annual musical treat.

  • 3RD Annual Leap Year Weird Beer Fundraiser

    The 3rd Annual Leap Year Weird Beer fundraiser for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life will be held at Waves DI on Friday, April 13 from 7pm-10-pm and you are invited to join in on the “madness” while raising money for a great cause. This year’s theme is Leap Year Weird Beer:Friday the 13th Edition and attendees can enjoy craft beer, live music, fodd donated by Dauphin Island restirants and prize drawings. The event is organized by Team Spadefish Fighting Cancer and their mission is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.     The Town is sponsoring a Spring Plant Sale & Give-a-way on Saturday, April 14 from 9am-noon on town right-of-way in front of Green Park. In addition, to multiple vendors on site offering a broad spectrum of plants, trees, shurbs and more, the town will be handing out a variety of items FREE (while supplies last) to Dauphin Island property owners…made possible through Enviromental Mitigation Fund. Please mark your calendar and stop by the event to pick up your free plants and browse throughout the venue to find special offers for all of your spring planting needs!

    Rev up those engines and head on down the highway to the 22nd Annual Motorcycle Show ON Sunday, April 15 (rain date April 29) at the parking lot across from Waves. Serving as the single largest annual fundraiser for DI Elementary, this popular show lets you get up close and personal with a variety of vintage and classic motorcycles while enjoying delicious food & beverage items served fresh on site. In addition to supporting the cause through attendance, you can also make cash or raffle item donations and contribute food & beverage items to be sold.   • Gumbo Cook-Off at Rodeo Site

    The 9th Annual Gumbo Festival, sponsored by the DI Chamber of Commerce, is set for Saturday, April 21 and will be held this year at the rodeo site from 11am-2pm. You know the routine, come hungray and sample your way around the venue as teams compete for top honors in this annual must-do event. Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will go to support our own volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad! Musical entertainment will be provided by the MOdern Eldorados, a local favorite.   • St. Francis Arts & Crafts Festival

    The annual St. Francis Episcopal Arts & Crafts Festival is set for Saturday, Arpril 21 and more than 50 local and regional artists will congregate on the church lawn to display and sell their one-of-a-kind creations. Step inside and you’ll find a plethora of delicious baked goods, Wimberly Hory’d Famous Chicken Salad Sandwiches (Now also available by the pint), frozen casseroles, soups, homemade pickles and many other tasty treats! The event runs from 9am to 4pm.

  • 2nd Annual DI Bicycle Poker Run

    The 2nd Annual DI Bicycle Poker Run will hit the streets on Saturday,April 28 from noon-4:30pm and you’re invited to join in on the fun and festivities while supporting a great cause. Proceeds this year will go to help fund “Share The Beach”, a non-profit conservation program to monitor and protect sea turtles through public outreach and education. Tickets are $10 and participants must pickup a wrist band and tally sheet at Waves DI prior to visiting the seven participating locations to collect cards. All tally sheets must then be turned in at Pirate’s Bar & Grill prior to 5pm and the best poker hand wins $100! You could also win one of many diir prizes up for grabs that day. Come ride, eat and drink with us at the Poker Run…it’s going to be a blast!

    The Town of Dauphin Island is pleased to announce the first of seven 2018 Sunset Concerts will be held at historic Fort Gaines on Sunday, April 29 and we;re kicking off the season with two musical groups! Taking the stage at 1pm is The Jazz Studio while Swing keeps music flowing beginning at 5:45pm. The regular price of admission to Fort Gaines includes the 1pm show with the $5 fee (age 13 & up) applying to the evening performance only. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray (just in case). The six remaining Sunset Concerts will be held on May 27, June 24, July 29, August 12, September 2 and October 14.
