    TOWN HALL

For more than three decades, over 87,000 volunteers have teamed up to remove in excess of 1.6 million pounds of marine and shoreline debris as part of the Alabama Coastal Clean Up! Those totals will increase on September 15 when area waterways and beaches will once again be targeted to “Get the Trash Out of the Splash”.  If you or your organization would like to participate, contact Dauphin Island Zone Captain Clay Bennett at (251) 861-2141 or cbennett@disl.org. Volunteers (especially those with boats) are needed to scour as much of the coastline as possible during the 4-hour event from 8am-noon. Registration will once again be located at Cadillac Square and you are asked to show up prior to 8am to receive trash bags, gloves and be assigned a team and an area to clean. For general information call (251) 928-9792 or visit the website at alabamacoastalcleanup.com. The event is coordinated by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) and People Against A Littered State (PALS).
